A 45-year-old man and his 44-year-old girlfriend have been sentenced in the slaying of a 13-year-old Detroit boy who was abducted, beaten and choked after picking up money he saw on the ground.

Gregory Walker received two concurrent sentences of 40 to 60 years in prison and Lillian Roberts got two sentences of 24 to 40 years.

Deontae Mitchell's body was discovered in a vacant lot in Detroit in May. Police say he was grabbed after picking up $70 outside a market.

Walker and Roberts pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and kidnapping.

Roberts' 27-year-old son, Earnest Coleman, was sentenced earlier this month to at least 14 years in prison. Coleman had pleaded guilty to torture and illegal possession of a gun.
