A man whose family reported him missing at sea for more than two months is back on dry land and reuniting with his family.

The crew of a German tanker spotted Louis Jordan sitting on the overturned hull of his 35-foot sailboat Thursday. He was floating about 200 miles off the coast of Cape Hatteras.

A Coast Guard helicopter crew from North Carolina took Jordan to a hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, on Thursday night.

Jordan sailed out of a marina in Conway, South Carolina, on Jan. 23 and had not been seen or heard from since.

Coast Guard spokeswoman Lt. Krystyn Pecora said the 37-year-old Jordan had a shoulder injury. His father, Frank Jordan, said his son also was dehydrated.
