A man has been convicted of killing a Syracuse University student from China during a drug deal robbery last fall.

The Post-Standard reports 24-year-old Syracuse resident Cameron Isaac was found guilty Tuesday of first-degree murder in the shooting of 23-year-old Yuan Xiaopeng (YOO'-en SHE'-ow-puhng).

The jury is still deliberating the fate of 20-year-old Ninimbe Mitchell, who is accused of being the getaway driver. He faces a second-degree murder charge.

Prosecutors say Mitchell drove Isaac to a suburban Syracuse apartment complex last Sept. 30 so Isaac could buy marijuana from Yuan, who was a junior from Qingdao (cheeng-DOW') studying mathematics.

Isaac shot Yuan after robbing him. Mitchell's lawyer says his client didn't know Isaac planned to rob Yuan.

Isaac and Mitchell are cousins and were tried before the same jury.
