Man arrested in abduction, slaying of boy waives extradition
DETROIT – A man sought in the kidnapping and death of a 13-year-old Detroit boy will be returned to Michigan from Toledo, Ohio.
The Detroit News and The Toledo Blade report that 45-year-old Gregory Walker on Monday waived extradition. An Ohio judge ordered him returned to Michigan within three days.
Deontae Mitchell disappeared Tuesday night while riding bikes with a cousin, who told police that Deontae had picked up money dropped by a man outside a market. Surveillance video shows Deontae being pursued by a man, who grabbed the boy by his arm and forced him into a car.
Deontae's body was found Thursday in a vacant lot. A cause of death is being investigated.
Walker was arrested Thursday in Toledo on a probation violation.
Two other men also have been arrested.
