A 27-year-old man is being treated at a California hospital after allegedly being held hostage and tortured with a fork and hammer, The San Luis Obispo Tribune reported Monday.

The unnamed victim escaped Friday from an isolated property in the California Valley, San Luis Obispo County, where he said he had been held for days, police said.

He called authorities after fleeing the home and was treated at the scene. He was then taken to an undisclosed hospital.

One man was arrested in connection with the incident after trying to return to the home early Saturday. Another man was arrested Monday.

Police said the motivation for the alleged crime remained unclear.
