LEBANON, Ohio – An Arizona man has admitted killing a rival furniture salesman in Ohio in 1992 and has been sentenced to more than a decade in prison.
Sixty-eight-year-old Sam Perone (pir-OHWN'-ee) pleaded guilty Tuesday to voluntary manslaughter and gross abuse of a corpse in the death of Richard Woods. The body of the 41-year-old Dublin, Ohio, man was found with gunshot wounds to the head in a ravine near Perone's Lebanon (LEB'-uh-nun) store. Blood was found on carpet in the store.
Warren County Common Pleas Judge Donald Oda (OH'-duh) sentenced Perone to 11 years in prison. He was arrested a year ago at his Phoenix home.
Perone had previously pleaded not guilty to murder charges and denied involvement in Woods' death. Members of Woods' family, including his widow, were in court Tuesday.
