The New York Police Department says a man and a child have died after plummeting from a midtown Manhattan building.

Authorities say they received an emergency call reporting two jumpers from the 52-floor building around noon Sunday. Officers found a 30-year-old man and a 3-year-old child on the ground when they arrived.

Police say the man was pronounced dead at the scene and the child was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The circumstances of the fall are unclear. Authorities are investigating.

The address is a rental building listed as South Park Tower. The building is a short distance away from Columbus Circle and Lincoln Center.
