A high school football coach in Maine reportedly resigned after posting a nude picture of himself on Facebook.
Paul Withee, formerly of Oxford Hills High School in Oxford, resigned Monday after school officials received a complaint from a parent, the Sun Journal reports.
“I'm embarrassed, I'm ashamed, I'm humiliated,” Withee told the newspaper.
Withee said the picture was on his Facebook page for no more than 30 minutes. It was intended to be seen by a personal friend but was instead posted publicly, he said.
School Superintendent Rick Colpitts accepted Withee's resignation on Monday. Colpitts said that only the parent who filed the complaint saw the picture as far as he is aware.
Colpitts said Withee did not do anything illegal and simply made a mistake.
“There was never any malicious intent," he told the newspaper. "It was never intended for the public. He tried to correct it. I feel badly for him. I wish him well."
At least one parent, however, disagreed. The woman, who asked not to be identified, said she and her family were extremely disappointed by Withee's actions.
