A Georgia elementary school principal has been arrested on child pornography charges as part of a multi-agency child exploitation sting.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced that John McGill, 56, of Villa Rica, Ga., was arrested for the electronic possession of child pornography during last week's "Operation Broken Heart," Fox affiliate WAGA reported.

The Douglas County School District said McGill has been suspended from his duties as principal at Mt. Carmel Elementary School in Douglasville.

In a statement sent to WAGA on Sunday, the school district said the "system is cooperating fully with law enforcement."

McGill has been a principal for about 16 years and has been an educator for more than two decades, according to his biography on the school's website.

Investigators said McGill was one of 14 individuals arrested during Operation Broken Heart, according to the station.
