The Florida electrician helping out with Sandy relief efforts was relieving himself in public outside a local restaurant – and when a Long Island carpenter confronted him about it the two got in to a fight, the man charged with assault told The Post.
Thomas Libretto, 34, was charged with third-degree assault by Nassau police and ordered to appear court next week, in connection to the beating of John Applewhite, a 34-year-old lineman from Lakeland Electric in Florida.
The carpenter said he and his girlfriend were happy to get their power turned on Friday and went to celebrate that night at the Texas Roadhouse in East Meadow, LI.
When the restaurant was too packed to seat them immediately, they drove out of the parking lot -- and came upon Applewhite who was relieving himself in public, Libretto said.
Libretto said Applewhite kicked his car, prompting him to get out. Applewhite shoved him, according to Libretto, before the carpenter slugged him back.
That triggered a huge brouhaha as Applewhite’s pals allegedly joined the fray and beat up Libretto, the carpenter said.
"They kicked the s--t out of me," Libretto said. "I'm not some animal. I would never punch anyone for no reason."
Still, online photos showed Applewhite severely bruised after the altercation.
