The hospital where several victims of the recent Colorado Springs shooting are recovering was on lockdown for a brief period Monday afternoon, Colorado Springs police confirmed to FOX31.
The lockdown was lifted around 12:44 p.m. local time.
Some employees inside Penrose Hospital took to Twitter and Facebook searching for information after a reported “code silver” announcement was issued, according to KSNV.
A “code silver” indicates “a hostage/weapon/security situation” according to a Colorado Hospital Association Council of Quality Professionals document.
But a hospital spokesperson told KRDO there was no threat to patients or visitors. KRDO also reported the lockdown may have have been caused by the presence of a suspicious person.
Some patients told KKTV that the hospital had called them to cancel their appointments on Monday.
Robert Lewis Dear, who is accused of killing three people during Friday's shooting, is due to appear in court for his first appearance later Monday. There was no indication Monday's lockdown had any connection to Dear's attack last week.
