School district officials say two Utah teenagers have been flown to a Las Vegas hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by lightning outside their high school.

Brad Ferguson, spokesman for the Washington County school district, says Christopher "Dane" Zdunich and Alex Lambson were standing outside Snow Canyon High School in Santa Clara when they were hit shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Ferguson didn't know the boy's ages, but said Zdunich is a junior and Lambson is a senior. Santa Clara is a St. George suburb in southwestern Utah.

Ferguson says school officials administered CPR until emergency responders arrived.

The boys were initially taken to a St. George hospital, but were being flown to Las Vegas for treatment in the University Medical Center burn unit. Ferguson says both boys were in critical condition when they left St. George but were stable enough to be transported.
