Judge sets stage for Huntsville terror suspect's release

An Alabama man accused of plotting a terrorist attack is eligible to get out of jail, but a court still has to set conditions for his release.

WHNT-TV reports District Judge Schuyler Richardson of Madison County ruled Friday the court must set conditions for 22-year-old Aziz Sayyed's release to ensure he returns for trial and to protect the public.

A July 19 hearing to determine the conditions has been set.

Prosecutors say Sayyed, of Huntsville, pledged allegiance to the Islamic State and talked about his desire to behead people and make a bomb capable of destroying a police station. But Sayyed's attorney says his client has not actually done any of the things he's accused of.

Sayyed faces a charge of second-degree soliciting or providing help for terrorism.
