SYCAMORE, Ill. – An Illinois man accused in the October death of Northern Illinois University student Antinette Keller has pleaded not guilty.
The Daily Chronicle reports that 34-year-old William Curl of DeKalb pleaded not guilty on Tuesday. He was arraigned on five counts of first-degree murder, one count of concealing a homicidal death, one count of arson and one count of criminal sexual assault.
Curl has been in the DeKalb County Jail on $5 million bond. A grand jury indicted Curl last month.
Prosecutors have 120 days to decide if they will seek the death penalty.
Keller was last seen Oct. 14, when she left for a walk near the NIU campus. Burned human remains found two days later were identified Jan. 6 as Keller's.
