Illinois man pleads not guilty in student's death

An Illinois man accused in the October death of Northern Illinois University student Antinette Keller has pleaded not guilty.

The Daily Chronicle reports that 34-year-old William Curl of DeKalb pleaded not guilty on Tuesday. He was arraigned on five counts of first-degree murder, one count of concealing a homicidal death, one count of arson and one count of criminal sexual assault.

Curl has been in the DeKalb County Jail on $5 million bond. A grand jury indicted Curl last month.

Prosecutors have 120 days to decide if they will seek the death penalty.

Keller was last seen Oct. 14, when she left for a walk near the NIU campus. Burned human remains found two days later were identified Jan. 6 as Keller's.
