Authorities say the target of a massive manhunt may be playing a game with law enforcement as he hides in the woods of northeast Pennsylvania.

Police say they've caught glimpses of 31-year-old Eric Frein (freen) as recently as Tuesday. But they couldn't capture him in the rough terrain.

Frein is described as a self-taught survivalist with a vendetta against state police. He's charged with killing one trooper and wounding another during a Sept. 12 ambush of their barracks in Blooming Grove.

Authorities say Frein makes himself visible from distances where he's unlikely to be caught. He's reportedly left behind soiled diapers and empty cigarette packs in the wilderness.

Police said Wednesday the manhunt has included kicking bears out of caves and getting warrants to search vacant houses.
