Houston man raped teen, toddler, infected them with HIV, police say

A registered sex offender in Houston is charged with raping a 14-year-old girl and a 2-year-old girl and infecting them with HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.

The 33-year-old man was charged this week with super-aggravated sexual assault of a child and sexual assault of a child. Houston police say he raped his ex-girlfriend's teenage daughter and his infant niece.

The investigation began in 2013 when the younger child was brought to the Texas Medical Center. Both victims were infected with herpes and doctors had to preform reconstructive surgery on the younger child.

The suspect was sentenced to four years in prison in 2004 after sexually assaulting a different child.

The Associated Press isn't naming the man to protect the identities of the children.
