HICKMAN, Ky. – The mayor of a small Kentucky town was shot to death early Monday, the Paducah Sun reported.
Charles Murphy was in his second term as mayor of Hickman, in western Kentucky. Hickman Police Chief Tony Grogan said 30-year-old Tommy Lattus went to the police station early Monday and told officers he had shot Murphy.
Police arrived at Murphy's home, which showed evidence of a forced entry, shortly after 1:00am and found him dead in his bedroom.
Lattus was taken into custody at the Fulton County Detention Center. He did not reveal his motive for shooting Murphy, according to the Paducah Sun.
