The seventh named tropical storm of the eastern Atlantic hurricane season has formed several hundred miles from the Cape Verde Islands.

Tropical Storm Grace formed Saturday and has maximum sustained winds near 40 mph (65 kph). The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami says the storm could strengthen over the next day or so but is expected to weaken by Monday.

The depression is centered about 285 miles (460 kilometers) southwest of the Cape Verde Islands, and is moving west near 14 mph (22 kph).

There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.
