The first funeral for some 132 victims of the massive Joplin, Mo., tornado included little talk of the storm, focusing instead on what friends call the giant spirit of a man who loved life.

Hundreds of mourners packed into the Tennessee Friends Prairie Church in nearby Galena, Kan., Friday morning to say goodbye to Adam Dewayne Darnaby. He died four days short of his 28th birthday.

Friends and relatives say Darnaby was a devout Christian who loved his wife of less than three years and was a favorite uncle to nine nieces and nephews.

Wes Davis is pastor at Riverton Friends Church, which Darnaby attended. Davis says however massive the tornado was "no match for Adam Darnaby."

At least two more memorial services were planned for other victims later Friday.
