OAKLAND, Tenn. -- Fire crews are on the scene of an explosion at a munitions plant in the western Tennessee town of Oakland. It is not immediately clear if there are injuries.
Witnesses reported hearing a series of explosions.
Jeremy Heidt, a spokesman for the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, said there also was a fire.
A large plume of smoke was billowing from the plant.
Oakland is about 30 miles northeast of Memphis.
