Fire at off-campus house injures seven Boston University students

Authorities say seven Boston University students have been injured after a fire destroyed their rented off-campus home.

Boston Fire Department officials say one student was critically injured after leaping from the upper floor of the Allston building early Sunday, where firefighters found several residents who'd fled in their pajamas with heavy soot on their faces.

The seven occupants' identities and conditions were not immediately released later Sunday, but fire officials said the one who was critically injured is a male student.

The fire's cause remained under investigation, and Boston University officials said they were working with the students to help them find housing.

The fire came one day after a blaze killed two Marist College students and a friend in their off-campus rental home near the school in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
