HOUSTON – Prosecutors and the FBI say the owner of a Texas microelectronics company used a nondescript office front in Houston to run a complex operation designed to illegally sell highly regulated technology to the Russian military.
FBI special agent Crosby Houpt read from emails and phone transcripts at a detention hearing Wednesday. Prosecutors say the material shows that Alexander Fishenko instructed his Russian counterparts to forge documents and hide information that could indicate the cutting-edge microelectronics would end up with military agencies.
Fishenko, the owner of Arc Electronics Inc., and seven of his employees were arrested last week.
Prosecutors are seeking to deny bond to Fishenko because they consider him a flight risk. A judge is expected to decide Thursday whether to allow bond.
