Authorities say they expect the death toll of 14 from a massive Washington state mudslide to increase as crews continue to search through the debris field.

Snohomish County Fire District 21 Chief Travis Hots said Tuesday officials expect to report additional fatalities throughout the day. Dozens of people remain missing.

Authorities are working off a list of 176 potential missing people, though many of those names likely are duplicates and they think that number will decrease.

Snohomish County Emergency Management Director John Pennington says officials expect to have an updated list of potentially missing people later Tuesday.
