A week after a father and his 1-year-old daughter went missing, divers have discovered their car in the Sacramento Delta as details emerged on how the vehicle ended up in the water.

The California Highway Patrol saidTuesday that it appeared Kyler Jackson took a sharp left turn and traveled down an embankment before hitting a tree and entering a slough, The Sacramento Bee reported.

Jackson and his daughter, Kaylee, had been missing since May 22. Divers pulled the bodies and the car from the water last weekend. The coroner's office has yet to determine an official cause of death for the two.

California Highway Patrol Officer Michael Bradley said the south Sacramento office is continuing its investigation.
