CHICAGO – Officials say grief counselors will be on site at a Chicago elementary school mourning the death of a teacher who fell several floors inside a downtown Chicago hotel over the weekend.
Authorities say Megan Duskey of Crete died Saturday evening while at a Halloween party at the Palmer House Hilton.
Police have launched a death investigation, but a preliminary investigation shows she was trying slide down a stair railing when she fell.
Chicago Public Schools spokeswoman Monique Bond says Duskey was an early childhood special education teacher at Orville T. Bright School on Chicago's South Side.
Family members say Duskey was a 2009 graduate of Northern Illinois University and are remembering her as a caring woman ready to make a difference.
The hotel has not returned messages seeking comment.
