A preliminary hearing is scheduled for a former Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper charged with rape and sexual battery of three women during traffic stops.

Eric Roberts is due in Creek County District Court in Sapulpa on Wednesday afternoon.

The charges filed last year against the 42-year-old Roberts in three separate cases include second-degree rape, sodomy, sexual battery, embezzlement and asking for or receiving a bribe. He has pleaded not guilty.

The allegations came to light in August when a woman filed a federal lawsuit alleging Roberts raped her following a traffic stop. Two more women later came forward with similar allegations.

Roberts was suspended in July and resigned in September.
