A lawyer who represented former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky at his child sex abuse trial is set to plead guilty in a case charging him with attempting to evade federal income taxes from 2006 to 2010.

Online records show 42-year-old Karl Rominger is scheduled to plead guilty Thursday afternoon before a federal judge in Harrisburg.

Rominger was charged last month with attempted tax evasion and failing to file a 2012 return.

Rominger pleading guilty in May in Cumberland County to stealing $767,000 in client funds. Sentencing is set for August. Prosecutors say he spent the money on gambling and other interests.

Rominger's lawyer says his client is in treatment for compulsive gambling and has a realistic restitution plan.

Sandusky is appealing a 45-count conviction.
