A 900-pound bronze statue of prolific inventor Thomas Edison has arrived in his Ohio birthplace, where it will be displayed this summer before going to its permanent home at the U.S. Capitol.

The Blade in Toledo (http://bit.ly/1svTkfJ ) reports the nearly 7-foot figure of Edison holding a light bulb arrived Tuesday at the public library in Milan (MY'-lan), where Edison spent the first seven years of his life.

In September, it will join the historic figures at Statuary Hall in Washington.

Each state can display two notable figures at Statuary Hall. Edison will replace a statue of a former Ohio governor who supported southern slave owners.
