A Maryland jewelry store owner's dog shocked him and a diamond dealer when the 6-year-old Golden retriever swallowed a very expensive treat -- a 3-carat diamond worth more than $20,000, PEOPLEPets.com reported.
"The dealer may have been a bit taken back, but Soli didn't mind that he had swallowed a valuable treat," George Kaufmann told the Web site.
Kaufmann, who owns Robert Bernard Jewelers in Potomac, Md., takes his rescue dog to work with him, and allows him to great customers.
Soli was at the store when somehow the diamond fell on the floor near where he was hanging out. The dealer frantically searched the floor, until Kaufmann realized the expensive stone was in Soli's mouth.
After close monitoring of Soli, the diamond reappeared several days later.
"The diamond finally appeared during our poop run, fully intact and fine," Kaufmann told PEOPLEPets.com, adding the dealer was able to get the diamond back with no problems. "The whole event was one of those rate things that happens every now and then."
