Divers search for missing illegal immigrants in AZ

GILA BEND, Ariz. – Divers are searching for two, young illegal immigrants who are missing after running from a deputy during a traffic stop in Arizona and ending up in an agricultural canal.

Maricopa County Sheriff's Office spokesman Jeff Sprong said Friday the deputy pulled over a sedan carrying five illegal immigrants for a traffic violation along U.S. 80 near Gila Bend on Thursday night.

All five ran from the vehicle and made their way into the canal. Three of the five were found later by deputies and hadn't seem the two teenagers get out of the waterway.

Authorities don't know if the missing immigrants knew how to swim.
