Denver police say a man trying to help a woman who was pushed out of a car was stabbed in the neck several times by another man.

KMGH-TV reports the man, whose name was not released, is recovering from his injuries and police plan to honor him for his actions.

Denver police spokesman Matt Murray says the man saw a woman get pushed out of a car Wednesday night and was stabbed when he went over to help her.

It was unclear or police didn't say whether the same person pushed the woman and stabbed the man.

Murray says officers followed the suspect and arrested him after a short car chase. Police are investigating 27-year-old Brent Ward for the stabbing. He could face charges that include first-degree assault with a deadly weapon.
