A man convicted of killing a University of New Hampshire student will find out whether he will get a new trial.

Prosecutors say Seth Mazzaglia (muh-ZAYL'-ee-uh) strangled 19-year-old Elizabeth "Lizzi" Marriott in 2012 and dumped her body in a river. Mazzaglia says the Westborough, Massachusetts, woman died accidentally during a consensual sex act.

Mazzaglia is serving a life sentence after being convicted of murder. He's appealing his conviction, saying his attorneys should have been allowed to introduce evidence about Marriott's alleged prior consensual sexual activity.

The state Supreme Court is expected to issue its ruling on Tuesday.
