A man and his wife have been charged with neglect after his 15-year-old granddaughter was found weighing less than 40 pounds and covered in feces in an Indiana home earlier this week.

The 58-year-old man and 54-year-old woman were charged Friday on several charges, including neglect of a dependent, criminal confinement and battery. Court records don't indicate whether they have attorneys.

The suspects aren't being named to protect the identity of the girl, who was hospitalized Monday after someone in the home called an ambulance. Authorities say they found the teenager in a locked room with feces and blood on the walls and floor. Her bones were protruding from her skin.

A hospital spokeswoman said no information is being released about the girl Friday.
