BOSTON – Police say a drunken driving suspect struck a Department of Transportation worker in a construction zone on a Massachusetts highway, seriously injuring him.
State police say 59-year-old Boston resident Carlos Gonzalez was traveling on Route 90 at about 1 a.m. Monday when he struck a MassDOT employee in Boston. Police say Gonzalez failed to stop after the accident but was located a short time later.
The 60-year old MassDOT employee was taken to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries.
Gonzalez will be arraigned later Monday in Boston Municipal Court.
He faces charges including negligent operation of a vehicle under the influence of alcohol causing serious injury and leaving the scene of a crash.
It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney who could comment on the charges.
