PALM BAY, Fla. -- A drunken woman tried to rob a Florida convenience store with a toy machine gun early Sunday, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

Wilnelia Caraballo, 19, went into a Kangaroo Express convenience store in Palm Bay, Fla. -- about 75 miles southeast of Orlando -- at around 5:51am ET wearing a clear plastic mask and holding what appeared to be an Uzi-style submachine gun, Palm Bay Police Department spokeswoman Yvonne Martinez said.

Caraballo appeared to be intoxicated at the time, according to Martinez. She walked behind the front counter of the store while employees were in the back of the store.

A clerk who saw Caraballo go behind the counter yelled "Palm Bay police! Get on the ground!" She initially complied, then got up to run away. Another employee restrained her until police arrived on the scene.

The submachine gun was found to be a toy. Caraballo was charged with attempted armed robbery and taken to jail, Martinez said.
