AURORA, Colo. (AP) -- A 17-year-old girl has been shot and seriously wounded near her suburban Denver high school.

Seven schools were locked down for an hour Monday afternoon while police made sure there was no threat to the rest of the students in the east Denver suburb of Aurora.

Police Detective Bob Friel says the girl was shot across the street from Aurora Central High School, which she attends.

The girl's name hasn't been released. No one else was injured.

Police are searching for a black or dark gray Neon sedan that was seen leaving the area. Friel said police were interviewing witnesses, but he declined to release more information.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the shooter.
