Coast Guard officials say they are sending a rescue plane to waters northeast of Hawaii to respond to reports of a woman going overboard on a cruise ship.

Authorities say crew members aboard the Grand Princess reported Wednesday afternoon that a woman was overboard in waters about 750 miles northeast of Hilo, on Hawaii's Big Island.

Princess Cruises spokeswoman Julie Benson says witnesses and security video confirmed the passenger was "intentionally going overboard."

Officials say the ship changed its course and is searching for the missing woman.

The Coast Guard and cruise company both say the woman is American, but differ on her age. The Coast Guard says she is 30, while Princess Cruises says she is 54.

Benson says the ship is sailing roundtrip to Hawaii from San Francisco.
