A crew member of a Coast Guard vessel that collided with a pleasure boat killing an 8-year-old San Diego boy in 2009 will have a mark on her record but will not serve time in the brig.

A military court issued the reprimand Wednesday during a military court martial of petty officer Brittany Rasmussen after she pleaded guilty to the charge of dereliction of duty for failing to tell the driver of a 33-foot Coast Guard patrol boat that her view was blocked.

The collision during a Christmas watercraft parade in San Diego Bay killed Anthony DeWeese and injured five others.

The boy's parents say Rasmussen received a slap on the wrist for the death of their son, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Two other crew members face court martials.
