Co-workers of woman slain during mass shooting 'devastated'

CINCINNATI – A supervisor for an Indiana woman killed during a mass shooting at a gender reveal party in Ohio said the last thing he told her before she left work Friday for a weekend wedding was "be safe."

Co-workers at a Huntington, Indiana, manufacturing plant are devastated by the death of 22-year-old Autum Garrett, employee David Moyer told the Cincinnati Enquirer .

"All she ever talked about was her family — her husband her two little ones," said Moyer, Garrett's supervisor at M&S Industrial Metal Fabricators.

Eight people, including the pregnant woman and three children, were wounded in the shooting when two men opened fire inside a home Saturday night in the Cincinnati suburb of Colerain Township.

Garrett's husband, Bryan, was the most seriously wounded. He was shot in the eye and will require additional surgeries. The couple's two children also were shot. The pregnant woman lost her child, a boy, after she was shot in the thigh.

All of the wounded except Bryan Garrett have been released from hospitals, a Colerain Township police spokesman said Thursday.

The two gunmen seen running from the home after the shooting haven't been identified or arrested. An anonymous donor is offering a $10,000 reward for information. It's still not known whether occupants of the home were targeted.

Friends and family of the pregnant woman, who hasn't been identified, had gathered at the home for the reveal party. About a dozen people remained afterward to watch a movie when the gunmen burst in.

Investigators found an unloaded handgun in the front yard of the small, single-story home. It's being examined at a crime lab, the police spokesman said.
