A Chicago man who was fired from his job on Monday after refusing to remove his Green Bay Packers tie has found a new job as a car salesman at a different dealership.
John Stone, wore his Packers tie to work the day after the Packers beat the Chicago Bears, 21-14, to advance to the Super Bowl, and was fired for it.
Despite his love of the rival team, the dismissed salesman, was offered a job Tuesday morning by the general manager of nearby Chevrolet of Homewood, during an interview on WGN radio in Chicago.
Stone said he wore the Packers tie to work on Monday at Webb Chevrolet in Oak Lawn, to honor his late grandmother who was a big Packers fan.
The sentimental gesture did not impress his boss, general manager Jerry Roberts.
Roberts said the dealership has done promotions involving the Bears, and he was afraid the tie could alienate the team's fans and make it harder to sell cars.
Roberts said Stone was given five chances to take off the tie but he refused.
Stone said he would accept the new job offer, but it's contingent on an interview.
