Prosecutors have dropped a criminal case against a woman who told police she had no clue she was pregnant before she gave birth at her Pennsylvania home, put her unresponsive newborn into a shoebox and stored the box in an upstairs closet.

The York Daily Record (http://bit.ly/2c92ur9 ) reports the York County district attorney's office says the decision to drop the case was made "in the interest of justice," citing medical records and the woman's "continued mental health treatment."

Twenty-one-year-old Springettsbury Township resident Kelsey Martin was charged in January with concealing the death of a child, a misdemeanor.

Police say she went to a hospital in April 2015 with abdominal pains and it was determined she had given birth. An autopsy failed to determine whether the child had been born alive.
