Nevada authorities say a car on an interstate between Las Vegas and the Utah border crashed into a tour bus carrying 41 passengers as the bus driver attempted an illegal U-turn on the freeway.

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Jeremie Elliott says eight people on the bus had minor injuries while the female driver of the car was airlifted to a Las Vegas hospital with serious injuries.

Elliot says there is a posted No U-Turn sign on Interstate 15, where Thursday's accident occurred.

The tour bus passengers, including international tourists from China, were taken to a nearby patrol station. At least two passengers were later taken to a local hospital for minor injuries.

The bus driver had not been arrested as of Thursday afternoon but could face charges.
