A man accused of stabbing a moviegoer in the neck with a meat thermometer during a screening of the film "Shutter Island" at a Southern California theater has been convicted of attempted murder.

A Lancaster Superior Court jury on Thursday also found Landry Boullard guilty of assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon.

The seriously injured victim had complained about someone talking on a cell phone during a February screening of the Martin Scorsese film. Two others who tried to help suffered minor injuries.

Boullard faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced Jan. 21.
