POMONA, Calif. (AP) — Police have arrested a California man suspected of firing at a crowd and killing a 3-year-old boy who was celebrating his birthday.

Pomona Police said Monday that they arrested Pablo Adame of La Verne last week after the 26-year-old was released from prison in an unrelated domestic violence case.

The child, Ethan Esparza, was shot in front of his grandparents' house in 2006 by stray gunfire intended for two other people standing nearby. A teenage boy was seriously wounded in the drive-by attack but survived.

Adame, who is being held on $4 million bail, is scheduled to be arraigned June 29.
