A mother says her 6-year-old son has made "miraculous" progress in his recovery after he was one of eight people shot during a toddler's birthday party in western Tennessee.

WMC-TV (http://bit.ly/2gaUNFF) reports Lynjerius Ross was shot in the hip and foot Thursday.

He's now walking with a cast covering his right leg inside Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis.

His mother, Nika Ross, said Sunday that her son hasn't even cried throughout his ordeal.

The shooting in Dyersburg killed a 21-year-old woman. She was the mother of the 2-year-old whose birthday was being celebrated.

Twenty-nine-year-old Torius Russell has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Authorities say Russell had been at the residence earlier in the day in a disturbance reported to police.
