Authorities say two people, including a 16-year-old boy, were killed at a backyard barbecue when a gunman opened fire from a vehicle that pulled up to the front of the home.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Mary Leef says someone who used a rifle from the dark-colored vehicle also wounded two men late Saturday. Their conditions were not immediately known.

Of the four shot, one man died at the scene. City News Service reports paramedics rushed the teen to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have made no arrests. Leef says a motive for the shooting has yet to be established.

The shooting occurred in unincorporated South Los Angeles, an area known for gang violence.
