ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – An Atlantic City police officer shot while responding to a robbery is improving at a hospital.
Atlantic City police said Thursday that Officer Joshlee Vadell is sitting up and talking after having a ventilator removed. He is listed in stable condition.
Prosecutors say the nine-year veteran of the police force and another officer saw a robbery being committed early Saturday outside of a casino garage.
Vadell was shot as he exited his vehicle. The second officer returned fire and struck robbery suspect Jerome Damon. He was later found dead a short distance away.
Two other men charged in the shooting are in jail on $750,000 bail.
