Police say they've arrested a man on an attempted murder charge in connection with a harrowing New York City subway shove.

The New York Police Department said Friday it has arrested 38-year-old George Pautt.

The 15-year-old victim was pushed onto the tracks on March 5 in Queens. She survived by squeezing between the platform and the wheels of an oncoming train. The motorman was able to activate the emergency brake as the teen pressed against the platform wall. She escaped with minor injuries.

Police say the fleeing suspect was seen on a security camera.

The defendant was awaiting a court appearance Friday. There was no immediate information on an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
