Baltimore police say they have arrested a man in the death of North Carolina teenager whose body was found in a nearby river after she went missing in 2010 while visiting family in the area.

Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told The Associated Press on Wednesday evening that a man he identified only by name, Michael Johnson, had been arrested in the death of 16-year-old Phylicia Barnes, of Monroe, N.C. Guglielmi said prosecutors would release more information Thursday morning regarding the case and arrest.

Barnes was visiting Baltimore with family when she went missing Dec. 28, 2010. Workers at the Conowingo Dam on the Susquehanna River discovered the teen's body the following April. Medical examiners ruled the death a homicide.
