When it comes to love, there’s no bridge too far.

An amorous Arizona couple -- identified by authorities as homeless transients -- received citations Wednesday morning after police said they scaled a bridge over a busy highway, prompting a large police response and the temporary closure of a major lane.

AZFamily.com reported that Magenta Montante, 24, and Michael Anderson, 34, scaled down the bridge after they spotted police at about 5:30 a.m. Traffic, however, was stopped on the northbound side of Interstate 17. It was not clear how long the two were up there.

“Apparently, when they spotted us, they realized they should not have been up there,” one officer said. “Their intentions were star gazing. They were telling me they wanted to do something spontaneous.”

Reporters asked the couple if they were having sex.

The woman reportedly responded, “No, but we were going to.”
